The Color Edit: Spring Edition

The Color Edit

Welcome to The Color Edit - a space dedicated to reimagining Eudaimonia Studio quilt patterns through the transformative power of color. With each edition, we’ll explore how a thoughtfully curated palette can completely shift the mood of a design . . . whether inspired by the seasons, a holiday, or simply a new creative perspective. Consider this an invitation to look at familiar patterns in an unfamiliar way - celebrating color, embracing creativity, and finding the confidence to experiment. Our hope is that these palettes spark fresh inspiration and encourage you to make each quilt uniquely your own!

Spring Inspiration

Spring is a season of subtle shifts . . . gruadually longer days, fresh color popping up in the landscape, and a sense of renewal after winter’s rest and quiet. For this Spring Edition of The Color Edit, we explored palettes inspired by those small seasonal changes: wildflowers beginning to appear, rain-soaked gardens, migrating birds, and blooms unfolding as daylight lengthens. Each palette offers a fresh interpretation of a Eudaimonia Studio quilt, showing how color can transform a design while still reflecting the mood of the season.

The Color Palettes

Below, you’ll find a selection of Spring-inspired color palettes paired with some of our favorite quilt patterns! For each quilt, we’ve used Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids, but these palettes are just as inspiring for any fabric line you love. Since Eudaimonia Studio patterns are available in PreQuilt, you can experiment freely and play with color to your heart’s content!

Wildflower Meadow

Soft pastels and warm tones come together in a palette inspired by wildflowers scattered across an open meadow. Lavender, pistachio, peach, and warm gold create a feeling of fresh growth and a new interpretation of this pattern’s palette. The Grow Wild quilt felt like the perfect pattern to revisit for spring!

Rainy Season

This palette captures the richness of spring rain . . . plum blossoms, mossy greens, and soft misty hues after a passing storm. While not the typical “spring” palette, it reflects the mood of the season many of us know well. The Six-Color Repair quilt provided the perfect canvas to really let these fabric choices shine!

  • Color 1: Plum Preserve

  • Color 2: Ocean Fog

Inspired by the idea of radical optimism, the Bright Spots quilt feels like the perfect way to welcome spring with a bit of color and positivity.

The Grow Wild quilt is inspired by the concept of lovingkindness and, when cultivated, its ability to transform barren land into a field of wildflowers. In Buddhism, metta meditation is the practice through which this compassion is cultivated toward both ourselves and others by concentrating on kind phrases and goodwill. In our often fractured and antagonistic world, sowing seeds of metta means more connection, beauty & love within and all around us - who wouldn’t benefit from that?

About the design.

The Repair design is inspired by a concept in certain cultures that emphasizes creating beauty from what is broken. Specifically, this idea is illustrated in Japanese culture through the stunning artform of Kintsugi—also known as kintsukuroi, which translates to “golden repair”—and in Judaism through tikkun olamHebrew for “repair the world.” That we can choose to see brokenness as opportunity is a wonderfully healing thought, it only requires the vision to see what’s possible to make from the broken pieces. On an individual level, we can use our imperfections & fractured past to be relatable, compassionate and resilient; on a societal level, we can find purpose & fulfillment in making the world more peaceful, just and kind through our everyday actions.

This dynamic quilt offers plenty of opportunity to play with both color and overall design, with blocks that can be oriented differently for endless possibilities.

This quilt pattern also makes for a great introduction to half-rectangle triangles (HRTs)!
