Carpe Diem Quilt - Swimming Pool Version
Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.
— Mahatma Gandhi
Design Inspiration
“Eudaimonia” is the Greek word for “human flourishing.” Eudaimonia Studio designs are inspired by the ancient question of what it means to live well. The Carpe Diem quilt - with its twist on the traditional hourglass block and its symbolism of time - serves as a reminder that the future is never guaranteed; and yet, what we do with the present shapes our tomorrow. By holding and reconciling these seemingly contradicting truths, we can work toward finding purpose, hope & joy in each day.
Details & Techniques
The Carpe Diem quilt pattern is an extremely versatile design that has a simple, standard construction and offers a multitude of ways to use fat quarters, fat eighths, scraps, or whatever is in your stash. The pattern includes instructions for five sizes (baby, throw, twin, queen, and king) making it easy to customize. This modern quilt pattern features half-rectangle triangles (HRTs) with detailed, step-by-step guidance to help you master this modern quilting technique. Whether you’re a confident beginner or an experienced quilter looking for a fresh take on geometric patchwork, Carpe Diem is a fun and flexible project to add to your quilting queue.

Quilting
This quilt was longarmed by Trace Creek Quilting using the Tulip Bud pantograph by The Quilting Mill. I opted for a more organic-looking quilting design with curves to contrast against the sharp angles of the triangles, and love the texture it creates on this quilt.
